Alexander Campbell

Since 2016 I have been a trainee at Aspire Wrestling Alliance, where I have wrestled since 2017 as Xander Palmer. I have worked on a handful of video projects during my time there, including video promos of myself to promote a match as well as video packages. Video packages are edited pieces set to music that convey the story of the match to promote them, and I have made two thus far to promote two matches that I have had.

This was the first video package I made was for a championship match against my trainer and mentor Paul Malen. The video package is also a retrospective of my career up to that point, beginning as a trainee at age 12 to then competing in front of crowds at 14 and the years since then. Getting to combine promos from me and Paul let me experiment with turning two separate videos into one conversation, connected with some of the footage that had been recorded from our shows over the years. I chose the song 'Scared of the Dark' as a backdrop, as it is one of the best songs from one of my favourite films 'Into The Spider-Verse', and symbolises overcoming fear to live up to your potential - which was reflective of the journey the character of Xander Palmer was going through.  This was a big accomplishment for me personally, as video packages are one of my favourite parts of watching wrestling and being able to make my own was surreal but incredibly rewarding.
