#MakeAspireHumbleAgain Campaign
PROJECT ROLE: Editor / Narrator / Wrestler (Xander Palmer)
Following my second hiatus from wrestling, due to my time at university, I shifted the focus of my character from being a more cerebral and malicious villain to one that was more 'sincere' at a surface level but was still an arrogant loudmouth. This persona allowed me to lean into a more comedic style of video, which led to the creation of the '#MakeAspireHumbleAgain' movement.
This series of videos allowed me to satirise charity adverts and earnest appeals to allow the more deluded parts of the character to manifest. In the first of these videos, Xander Palmer lobbies Aspire Wrestling to bring him back through a Water-Aid style of video using a score made by my friend Shayn Curtis for our 'Life's A Drag' documentary project:

Following this initial video, the character returned to shows and was handily beaten in an impromptu match. As a response, I decided to make a Save The Children style advert and lean into some of the cheesier elements of campaigning - using Sarah McLachlan's 'Angel' to provide the right emotional backdrop:

The third video I produced in this series was a fake Masterclass advert about being a champion. I wanted to break away from the charity-style videos and test out a parody for a different style of video, so I watched several Masterclass trailers as inspiration and tried to add my own spin on the format:

To coincide with our biggest show of 2024, Destined for Glory VII, I took a different approach to making a comedic video, as this video played on the large screen that became a part of our shows. I tried to use a bombastic, YouTube-esque editing style to create a video package with a more entertaining feel - recapping the past few months worth of story between Xander Palmer and Erika May.
